Over-engineered, with endless dismissals of character dialog boxes. Very long content download procedure. Way too easy until Level ("Area") 18 or so (there are 100 "Areas". I actually fell asleep three times while playing and woke up to find I was still alive and hadnt died yet. This is because unlike the original Galaga game you have a shield that can get hit quite a lot of times before your ship is destroyed. The "Space Dandy" storyline is actually mildly amusing although youll b dismissing 100s of dialog boxes to read through it. There is a quite convoluted system for purchasing and equipping upgrades to your ship. Then there is the apparently Space Dandy-tied, ridiculous "BooBies" store and with a shopgirl that has a cartoon camel-toe. Egads!!! Galagas challenging stages are not found here. There are some cool bosses to fight at the end of each Area. Although the Area backgrounds and Bosses start repeating themselves early on. Although the bosses may become more difficult to defeat on later levels. Anyhow. If you can stand tapping a lot between actually playing, by all means pick this one up.
I had sunk some time an effort into this game. Turned it on and all my progress was reset! I was forced to watch all the forced cut scenes and tutorials again and start again. Others had warned me but it seemed cool enough to take a chance.
I gave it a 4 star rating instead of 5 because theres a problem you need to look at I love this game but every day it resets my progress I beat 5 level the very next day it lodes up again and none of my progress is saved
No Game Center? I expect a lot better from quality publishers. File size extremely high as well.
The music, visuals, and control/gameplay are excellent. This game has a ton of style and charm. If youre a shooter fan, this is a must buy. If you like Galaga, this is a must buy.
Galaga with a hugely customizable ship system, fluid touch controls, a hundred levels, a zany anime tie-in with great music and art design, and no in-app purchases wrecking the balance? Sign me up!
If you like Galaga, check this out, and if you like Space Dandy, its such a bonus to see this partnership happen. The games great, much like a free-to-play games heavy customization features minus all IAP and with a fair in-game one-currency system. The controls are customizable too, with both movement/fire and sensitivity adjustments, along with a fire button location option to facilitate right- and left-handed players. The musics great, too! Yes, theres no Game Center. No, I dont care about Game Center in the slightest. If youre an old-school gamer, pick this one up!
Nice to finally have an English version. Great Galaga clone with a little Space Dandy mixed in. Lots to do and customize. It get pretty deep!
I was expecting regular galaga with the twist of customizable ships. Instead I got an anime with hours of dialogue. I have to press a skip button every 2 seconds outside of the actual galaga game. Why even relate it to an anime when it could have been 10X better as just a regular game?
Dont waste your money. Its filled with advertisement and non-stop cartoon dialogue. Annoying!
Seriously, go with the flow and follow the Dandy way as you surf on up to that buy button, this app is totally worth it, baby!
... & unfortunately this isnt it. While the sound design is great the gameplay itself isnt anywhere close to the precision perfection of the arcade originals. Upgrading is slow & painful, & the menus are quite cluttered & confusing. If you arent a fan of Space Dandy already, the Galaga fan in you will be annoyed with all the cutscenes (which are thankfully skippable). This really isnt even on par with Tekken Galaga, which felt like a rush job in itself but was okay. Finally, the visuals are pretty fugly. Galaga deserves better. At least bring us a collection of the originals in their unadulterated form, because that old anniversary collection didnt really cut it either.
Get this if you are a Galaga fan and the price is awesome for a game like this. Kudos to Namco for not going the IAP route. The people who gave this a bad review are either still using iPhone 2 or are too dumb to understand the description for this awesome version of Galaga.
Money back please.
This game rocks
This game is outstanding and extremely well-made. The controls are perfect for this game. LETS BE CLEAR: most of the RPG element is just in the beginning by teaching you how to play. Then its shoot, shoot, shoot!! THIS IS TRADITIONAL GALAGA but with better enemies and awesome bosses. And you have to LOVE THE BOOBIES SHOP!!
Dont waste your money and time buying this game because it always freezes on you and never let you play you always get pop-ups telling you to press here very annoying deserves a negative rating
Even without the Space Dandy license (awesome anime, btw), its still a pretty good Galaga follow-up that stands out on its own!
The control responsiveness could be better. The dialogue pop ups are just annoying and take away from the simplicity of the game.
